So I told you about myself, but I am not alone in this beautiful adventure of self-sufficiency   #crazycoupleidea    #midlifecrisis    #iwannabrushmycow #sickofpayingtaxes

There is also Darren, my boyfriend for almost 4 years already. Darren is from Ontario (take that Ontario! Another Quebec girlwho stole your best man from you !!). Darren doesn't speak much French, but he takes classes and improves month by month. Darren and I met in 2013, after I moved to Trenton, Ontario. In this other life, I was married to a military guy, so it was one more posting, after the 3 years in Yellowknife.

So Darren and I got to know each other from theTRPC (Trenton Rowing and Paddling Club) briefly. Darren was a kayak lover, and I had long dreamed of trying an Olympic rowing boat. So I found the perfect place! I think that in 3 years spent in Trenton, I crossed Darren 3 or 4 times maximum, but each time, something inside me vibrated intensely. Okay yes, the fact that he was handsome, charming, sexy and with a look that makes you melted surely helped make me vibrate, but there was more to it! It was as if my soul knew that we were destined to be together, it was all feverish at the idea of being one meter from the one who would soon share my life and fill me with happiness and love so much desired and so deserved. This inner feeling, was a confirmation, that I was on the right road, my life plan was aligned! But at that time, he was married and so was I. But without knowing it, the two of us were in a marriage that was heading towards a divorce.

It was only on my last day in Trenton, in June 2016, the day before I returned to Quebec that I received a message from Darren, inviting me to a Dragon Boat event on Saturday. I was really disappointed because I would have really liked to participate, but I was leaving the next morning for Quebec. So I simply replied that I would really have liked to come, but that I was leaving for Quebec, for good, because I had asked for divorce in March and it was time to move. I told him not to worry because it was my decision and it was for the best. It was then that he told me that he too had recently been divorced !!!! OMG !! Are you talking about timing !! So I sent him an invitation to come and visit me if he was passing through Quebec, because we have wonderful rivers and lakes, especially in my region, Portneuf! The invitation did not fall on deaf ears !!! From that moment, we started to communicate by messenger text. I took the time to settle in, breathe, think, heal. And then in a message in the middle of summer, Darren announced  me that he would very much like to come and visit me, he would come in October. It was a little late and it was getting cold for kayaking, but he suggested the stand up paddleboard, which I had only used once and which I loved and he would bring wetsuits, what a caring man!

I waited for his visit with great joy and excitement. I was looking forward to spending time with him, getting to know him a little more. And then the weekend finally arrived, and with him, Darren, his pickup truck and his incredible charm! We had a wonderful weekend. We laughed, made a campfire, drank, did stand up paddleboarding, I made him eat moose fondue. Sunday arrived too quickly, and so did his departure. I wanted to keep it with me. The following week, I was like a young teenager who couldn't help knowing if he had enjoyed his weekend, if he had enjoyed my company. Am i his kind of woman? Did he just want to have fun for a weekend? Is he going to want to see me again? Well, we're together then, you know the answers to these questions!

We had a long distance relationship for a year, to see each other every 2 weeks. Once I drove up to see him, the other time he came. I have often wondered how we were going to be together one day, as I have 3 young boys, he has 4 children, but older, and he did not speak French. Darren had also had his own store in Ontario for at least 12 years and it was running well, and he had his house too. Until one day, a friend told him about a job that would be perfect for him in Quebec. He decided to apply for the job of an English-speaking sales representative for the company. Damn! but it was a dream job! He would be able to work in Quebec without having to speak French! What was the chance of that happening?

He landed the job hands down! WOW! Darren was going to move with me to Quebec!

When everything falls into place for you, before your eyes, without making any effort, When the solutions to your problems come to you easily, When the stars align, You know that you are in harmony and that you are aligned with your life plan!

He closed his business, sold his house (I also helped during the whole process) and he came to join me in St-Raymond. Finally, for once, it was not me who made all the sacrifices in order to be with someone, finally, for once, I felt that I matter for someone, that I was important and special, that I was worth the sacrifice!

Darren, I love him, I deserve him, and I keep him!
