A fibulae is what archaeologists call metal jewellery clothes-fasteners. Could also be called a pin or brooch. Mainly used to hold the front of a cloak together.
Popular with Romans, Vikings and many many others throughout time, they have faded into stories and now seen mostly in beautiful romantic and historic pictures and movies.
Now, each one of these is hand forged here in St Raymond QC by active and former Canadian Forces Soldiers.
Made at Atelier Du Vieux Corbeau by members taking part in courses and therapy sessions and instructed by a former Warrant Officer with the CF.
Each one of these brooches is unique and have had the blood, sweat, tears and love of the creator poured into each one.
These are completely hand forged, no machines stamping out the size or doing the twisting. Each "pin" is customized to each brooch to make sure it slides easily from from side to the other, so no matter how you want to wear it, you can.
Made out of steel, these are perfect for closing your wool cloak on those cooler days.
You won't only get comments on these when wearing them but knowing the time, energy and love that went into them from the start of the forging process, it'll be like someone is there watching over you as well.
